Second day of running and it was just as smooth and graceful as the last. Let's see if today will be the same. Haven't practiced since Thursday! So far loving the run although Nick decided to take us on a different path the last time. We ran about 2 miles....not including running in the sand...yea I know right! I thought running up a hill was hard! Today's run should be quite interesting seeing how we did not do the extensive run we were to do on Sunday. Apparently, we are to increase the miles every Sunday, that's if we were following the schedule. We have a schedule! If only I followed that.
So the 13K might change to a 10K...depending on how far we practice and train for the 13K. Imagine, after running 10 miles and knowing you have only 3 more miles to go...the average run for most people, I feel like I would sprint the last 3 miles like my life depended on it! LOL. Anyway...more updates to come after running tonight and will let you know about the pain my body has endured or will endure!

TRAINING BEGINS!
First day of training 06.12.2012! I believe I can do this! Running is something that I did in high school and believed I LOVED the sport with a passion. I still do apparently! I ran with my sister Kakes and her fiance Nick at the lake and that had to be the best run ever! I am extremely excited to see how far I can go with this training and if I am capable of completing this 13K run.
YES....13K!
We ran along Foster beach, beautiful day, sun out but with a cool breeze along the lake. I was having flash backs into my years as a cross country athlete. Then, I always thought to myself, why am I killing myself and running 3 to 5 miles everyday for practice. Do I really love running that much...so I kept saying, I am only doing this for the track & field season. Then, I got to the track & field season and I said the same thing...ughkk...why do I have to run so damn fast! BUT.....I LOVED every minute of my years on the track team. Something to say you did for 4 years and something you grew into and made yourself aim for better goals.
So this 13K....should be quite interesting. The run yesterday wasn't bad at all. Kakes isn't much of a runner but she did a great job at pacing herself and yelling at us to slow down and stop to rest. I was surprised at how I was set on keeping a good pace, making sure I controlled my breathing, and using the form of a good runner. I realized that I am capable of running for a while and not stopping to rest until I got to the end of the destination. This is something everybody struggles with, keep on running...I know I always had to stop back in high school, stop, run, stop, run. But then I knew it would be hard to begin running again once you stop. So keeping that pace, good form, controlled breathing and an empty head (not thinking....when is the run going to be over) I believe anybody can accomplish an goal they put forth.
Be back for more updates....
p.s. not sure how many miles or my time was but will keep track of that on Thursday!
